Digital Marketing Needs More Transparency

Hey guys! I wanted to share an interesting article regarding digital marketing and transparency as it relates to the end customer. I encourage you to give the article a read, as it raises some fair points with respect to one of digital marketing's biggest issues. Basically, the article discusses why small businesses often can be upset with their digital marketing consultants for various warranted reasons. We as digital marketers need to be more transparent with our customers up front. Goals and objectives should be determined in the beginning with the customer, as it makes your performance as a digital marketing consultant more measurable. We should be held accountable for the work we provide, so defining some measurables ahead of time will provide for a much better interaction between business and consumer.

Data Insights For Your Digital Marketing

Hey guys, I read yet another interesting read today regarding data-backed digital marketing tips. These various tid-bits mentioned by the author are actionable figures that will allow you to make more informed decisions with respect to your digital marketing practices. I wanted to highlight a couple of trends in the article that seemed somewhat contrarian to popular belief.

According to the article, 82% of consumers still prefer shopping at brick-and-mortar stores, as opposed to online. I think a lot of businesses automatically assume sales are rapidly shifting toward e-commerce, but that isn't necessarily the case. With this in mind, don't ignore local SEO and physical call-to-actions. Consumers are still very much using their hard-earned money in brick-and-mortar stores.

Another data point discussed in the article mentioned that 50% of consumers leave positive reviews while only 39% leave a negative review. I think we believe that only pissed-off consumers leave reviews about their brand interaction, however, this isn't the case. Reviews are essential when digitally marketing your business as they largely influence first impressions (and ultimately last impressions). The customer should be at the forefront of everything you do: the customer is why you are where you are. Encourage customers to share their experiences online, whether good or bad, as they establish a public relationship for other potential customers to witness.

Is Digital Marketing For Your business?

Hello everyone! I stumbled on an interesting read today regarding why digital marketing might not be for you. I suggest you give the opinion article a read and come up with your own conclusions.

Anyway, the author makes several valid points as to how digital marketing is being viewed by some expansion-needy businesses. Everyone wants to be super successful in a small amount of time, however, that just isn't the case when talking about optimizing your online presence. Proper digital marketing for your business takes a lot of time and energy to execute: not to mention resources. To expect dramatic results overnight is comparative to planting a seed and expecting a tree to grow the next day. Your online presence requires nurturing to ensure proper budding. Metaphors aside, you have to be committed to expanding your digital presence from start to finish. There is no recipe for instant success.
